at a stand still yet going fast

well it seems like camp was just yesterday but here it is almost 3 weeks later...
what have I done in the last 3 weeks...
well im still unemployed, I sent out a couple resumes but I haven't really been too into it, im going to send a job placement agency my resume so I can get a few more options.
right now my posible options are working at iron mountain( a mobile paper shredding company), working at the brick in the warehouse, or maybe being a landscape labourer for the rest of the season.

Its been a while since ive had a evening where I haven't been doing something so I've been staying pretty busy

Haven't blogged for a long time mainly cause I didn't have anything new or profound to say but another part is that my computer broke down to a point where it wouldn't even start up anymore
, so instead of going and getting that 6 year old computer fixed we went and got a new one

my mom went for laser eye surgery today, so pray that her eyes wont hurt too much so she can sleep and that the proceeder will have full effect and her eyes will be restored

Job Searching

Well I'm still unemployed, after taking a week off to rest from my month at camp. So now im looking for employment! Earlier in the week I was having a hard time finding any jobs that didnt require experience, but now ive found a few.
basically what im looking for is summed up pretty fast
-isnt at a restaurant
-not a half hour drive from me
-pays decent
-doesn't require experience
-full time

most of the jobs ive found are all the way across Winnipeg in the more industrial side

one of the closer jobs that ive found and am considering is working at a turkey hatchery, its one of the only jobs that ive found that is anywhere near me(though i think ill talk to some people who have turkey experience before i send in a resume)

id even consider moving out of town if I could find someone to board me, city life is overrated

so if anyone has connections, I'm in need of a job

pacifism

Last night I was watching the movie Shooter and it provoked my pacifist beliefs. SPOILER ALERT( the rest of this paragraph is going to be about the movie) well the movie starts off with a sniper and his spotter sniping off enemy jeeps in Ethiopia, and then the spotter gets shot. 3 years later the "government" gets ahold of this sniper and tells him that the president is going to be assassinated and that he needs to scope out 3 possible locations, he does and it turns out to be a setup so that they can shoot the archbishop of Ethiopia because there mission 3 years ago was a slaughter of a African village. so basically all these government agents are corrupt. so basically a bunch goes on, the shooter finds out just how corrupt the government is and so a bunch more goes on and then he decides hes going to kill them all and so he does, and thats justice?

so basically he kills to make things right, but they arent ever right

I am a anabaptist so basically my views on this issue is that war isnt what Jesus Christ would support. Jesus is peace, Jesus is love, Jesus is forgiveness.

Luke 6
Love for Enemies
27"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you.

32"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. 34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. 35But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

heres one of my favorite quotes about the subject

"Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.... The chain reaction of evil — hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation." -Martin Luther King Jr.

these are just some of my opinions, if you want to discuss further feel free

camp

Well camp is over for the year, and I miss it alot... not so much the 24 hour a day being responsible for 6 or more kids, but the whole camp environment, the whole outdoors serving god thing, getting to go canoing almost every day for the last month, the staff, the spiritual support, the responsibility, etc.

Balanced ministry-
task team individual

task- to show the kids gods love and help them make commitments towards following Christ, teaching them what it means to follow Christ

team- Unity through Christ Jesus, working together to complete the task

Individual- caring for each other, encouraging spiritual growth

Though we only saw major spiritual breakthroughs during a couple of the weeks via first time commitments, there was definitely alot of movement, kids left with a thirst of knowledge, kids left with a connection, kids left wanting more, kids left knowing that God loves them. even if they didnt want to commit, a seed was planted.

please pray for Earl and Ramona, Ramona's surgery is tomorrow, well technically today

in Christ alone

camp

well my first 2 weeks of camp have come and gone and they have been utterly amazing. thats all I have to say.
I have really felt the devil trying to attack me this past day as I have been home but God has given me strength.
Jesus has been at work, and the devil doesnt like it.
pray hard for these next weeks.

pictures... camp

proof that i graduated, sunset, jeremiah taking a quick pose at in the bog, birds that we cant quite figure out what are(my guess was storks

camp is a couple days away and i want some prayer for it, i am feeling a few injuries at the moment the other day i was playing tennis with my brother and there was a hole in the court so they had a mat over it to cover, well my brother made a drop shot so i quickly ran forward not thinking anything of the mat and i rolled my ankle on it, and my knee has been acting up a little too i sprained my acl like 5 months ago snowboarding and its never been the same

second, i am not a morning person, i need my sleep, staff meetings are pretty early for me, so pray that i wont be tired at camp

also pray that the camp will get the staff they need, so that we arent running around like chickens with our heads cut off.

-chad ps. this will probably be my last post for a while as i am at camp for almost a month staright

whoa

I have like a million things I want to talk about but not alot of time.. haha so everythings going to be pretty short... i might expand on a few things later, but you know my blogging habits that might not ever happen

First off I graduated last thursday, which was awesome. then had my grad dinner that evening which was pretty fun too, sophia was my escort.

Then on friday me and jeremiah left for a canoe trip to war eagle lake which was amazing, it was just me and jeremiah, and ill tell you now I dont think I could have survived 5 days straight with anyone else haha. this trip had 2 km of portage probably about .5 km of portage through bog where we were up to our waists in nasty creek water, and went though 4 lakes. god was amazing, keeping us safe, giving us good weather when we prayed for it. the last night it was raining pretty hard, so pretty much whenever either me or jeremiah would wake up we would pray for good weather and guess what, when we woke up it never rained all day even though it looked like it should have been.

On sunday I leave for camp for 4 weeks, which I'm kinda scared for, oddly, I keep on praying for the camp, praying that we will not only get enough staff but get the right staff, so that we can show those kids who Jesus is with effectiveness. You know sometimes I bash short term missions, as I feel they arent effective unless there is a solid foundation built. and I pray that camp wont just be something these kids go to, but something that lives with them forever.

I just finished reading light force which in my opinion was a amazing read, its a book by Brother Andrew about the middle east.

as for what i said in my last post about God showing his power here are a few recent experiences in my life
I got some unexpected monetary support for camp which will nicely cover the cost of gas to get out there and back a few times
The power of prayer has just been so evident for me, one thing being the way he stopped the rain on our way home from canoing
how i have been offered jobs for the fall without even really searching for them
so much more...
